Why Tadabbur?

Bombarded with waves of ideologies and isms on all fronts, we Muslims are in dire need of solid anchorage to ground us in our faith. In Chapters 4 and 47 of the Quran, Allah poses a rhetorical question regarding our contemplation of the Quran, or the lack thereof. Why do we demonstrate such inadequate initiative in our reflection on Allah’s words and extraction of benefit from them? Meanwhile, tadabbur, the intentional reflection and contemplation of the verses of the Quran, is our ultimate source of anchor.

Ideologies and isms come in waves, and their waves intensify, recede, vanish, evolve, etc. Part of the beauty of our faith is our conviction in the Haqq- the ultimate truth. Truth is not subject to the whims and desires of ideologies and movements. It is timeless.

We access this timeless truth and wisdom by actively reflecting on the Quran’s stories, parables, and directions, drawing parallels between these verses and our contemporary lives, making profound connections, and applying them in our lives. The answers are there. We just have to search.

This blog aims to encourage and support Muslims who, like the author, thirst for answers and validation from Allah’s words in our daily strife. Bidhnillah, let’s reflect together on Allah’s book, and let’s revive the spirit of the Quran in our hearts, minds, and lives together as students of the Quran.
